Are you a Health and Safety Officer looking for a new job in the Co Louth area?

This industry leader has been in Dundalk since 1986 and is the home of innovation and production of material handling equipment. They employ 400 people in Dundalk and more than 3,300 workers across the globe.

They are looking for a highly motivated and skilled health and safety officer to join their team and play a crucial part in safeguarding the security and welfare of their staff. As a crucial member of our team, you will collaborate closely with the EH&S Manager to foster a culture of health and safety throughout their operations.

Your New Health and Safety Advisor Job will involve:

  • Ensure compliance with safety legislation and the adoption of policies and practices.
  • Plan, implement, monitor, and review protective and preventative measures to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, and injuries.
  • Handle health and safety complaints/issues professionally, efficiently, and confidentially, taking immediate action on any non-compliance.
  • Maintain up-to-date training records and coordinate legislated training sessions, including Crane Training, Forklift Training, Welding Certification, Manual Handling, and more.
  • Conduct accident investigations and manage claims made to the Personal Injuries Assessment Board.
  • Manage OHSAS certification programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels to effectively communicate health and safety initiatives.
  • Promote cooperation, commitment, and a high level of acceptance within the team to achieve goals and deliverables.
  • Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

For this Health and Safety Advisor’s job, you must have the following:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Qualified in Occupational Health and Safety Management.
  • Proficient in implementing and managing Hazard Identification and Risk Management processes.
  • Experience in accident investigation and case management of claims.
  • Familiarity with OHSAS certification programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to influence and engage others, building constructive working relationships based on cooperation and mutual respect.
  • Knowledge and experience of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is a plus.
  • Ability to convince others to comply with regulations, standards, and policies through voluntary means.
  • High levels of discretion and confidentiality.
