Environmental Health & Safety Officer Job Derry
Salary £30,000 - £40,000
Company: Our client, a leading engineering company based in Derry, are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Officer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic organisation committed to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain ISO certification (OHSAS 45001/ISO14001).
- Investigate accidents, identify root causes, and update documentation.
- Manage employers' liability insurance claims and liaise with insurance professionals.
- Provide support for incident investigation and reporting.
- Conduct various risk assessments and develop safe working procedures.
- Perform facility and equipment inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Manage and control all HSE systems and schedules.
- Conduct occupational health and safety surveys and make recommendations.
- Develop and test emergency preparedness and response plans.
- Organize employee health surveillance and communicate findings.
- Monitor the "permit-to-work" system and contractor compliance.
- Develop, implement, and enforce HSE policies in line with legislation.
- Implement environmental initiatives to minimize waste and energy consumption.
- Maintain and update HSE documentation.
- Ensure availability of medical, first aid, and occupational health resources.
- Organize and facilitate emergency preparedness and response training.
- Coordinate statutory inspections and certifications.
Essential Criteria:
- General NEBOSH or safety training certificate.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Health & Safety Management Role.
- Knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices.
- Experience in maintaining HSE systems across a business.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, report writing, and document management.
- Familiarity with HSE Management Systems, Accident Investigation, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
Personal Skills:
- Strong HSE management skills.
- Proficiency in health and safety management systems.
- Ability to investigate accidents and incidents.
- Knowledge of IMS 45001 & 14001 and NEBOSH.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems.
